Before the late 1990s, Hwy 5 ran through the heart of South-Central Ontario from Paris to Scarborough. In 1998, considerable portions of Hwy 5 were transferred to local jurisdictions. Currently, Hwy 5 runs entirely through a rural section of the City of Hamilton, from Hwy 8 to Hwy 6

Hwy 5 ends at a 5-point intersection where it meets Hwy's 8 and 52.

Currently there are no pictures available of Hwy 5's eastern terminus at Hwy 6 at Clappison's Corners.
