Hwy 17 holds the distinction of being Ontario's longest highway -- at nearly 2000km in length. (At the height of its modern length it was actually 2,129.7km long, but has been shortened several times due to both provincial downloading, and Highway 417 extensions). Highway 17 serves as the mainline Trans-Canada route through Ontario, and stretches from the Manitoba Border (where it continues westerly as Manitoba's Highway 1), to Arnprior, where the route transitions into Hwy 417.
